For those looking for an on-the-job scheme without a formal qualification. Depending on your level of education and experience, you may be eligible to join our Production Advanced Scheme, our Research and Development Graduate Scheme, or our Software Development Graduate Scheme.
PRODUCTION ADVANCED TRAINEE SCHEME
The BBC’s Production Advanced Scheme is well-established as a ‘gold-standard’ start in the industry. If you’re bursting with creative ideas you want to turn into great TV, audio, online or social media content, this 18-month scheme could be the first step in your career. We’re looking for individuals with potential and a passion for making great content. You’ll need to be 18 when you join, be eligible to work in the UK, and have Maths and English GCSEs at 9-4/A-C or National 5s (Scotland) at A-C or equivalent.
On completion you will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent role at the BBC.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT GRADUATE SCHEME
This two-year rotational programme is designed for innovative engineers, researchers and technologists with an interest in the future of media. You’ll use your creative and technical skills to get your ideas turned into real products, services and standards. You will need to have graduated with a 2.1 BSc in a technical subject with a high quantitative or programming element and be eligible to work in the UK.
On completion of the programme you’ll be eligible for promotion to R&D engineer, you might choose to go on to become a chartered engineer or apply for other roles within the BBC.

SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT GRADUATE SCHEME
This two-year rotational programme is designed for passionate software engineers looking to drive innovation and shape the future of the BBC. To join this course, you must be able to demonstrate your software engineering experience. This may be through a computing-related degree or you might be a self-taught coder. There is no upper age limit for applications.
On completion you will get a permanent position in software engineering at the BBC.
